Last year Mazda redesigned our flagship CX-9. Redesigning its looks while maintaining its fun to drive character was the main goal. As a family we know that safety is a top priority, and we are glad the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has recognized this and awarded us the IIHS Top Safety Pick designation. Our 2017 CX-9 earned a score of “Good” in every single crash test from the IIHS.

This puts the 2017 CX-9 amongst the Mazda 3 sport and sedan, the Mazda 6 as well as the CX-3 who have all received this designation from the IIHS. So, if you include the Mazda 3 sport and Sedan models which both earned the same designation. 5 out of the 6 vehicles we have available have received top owners from the IIHS (the Mazda 5 is no longer sold in the US and so the IIHS does not do safety tests on it anymore). As of writing this article the Mazda CX-5 has not yet been tested. This goes to show Mazda’s commitment to creating vehicles that are not only fun to drive but are also safe. Safety gives you the confidence to enjoy them to their fullest.
The 2017 Mazda CX-9 received a Top Safety Pick+ designation from the IIHS, the highest honour achievable.
