“In summary, the redesigned 2017 Mazda CX-5 might look very different from its predecessor but it is still one of the safest SUVs you will find on the road.”

At Mazda we strive to always be improving our vehicles to better enable our customers to have a truly exhilarating driving experience. However, something we consider as important as the fun to drive feeling of our cars is how safe they are on the road. Which is why we are proud that the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) has acknowledged this an awarded our redesigned 2017 CX-5 a IIHS Top Safety Pick designation. To achieve this designation a vehicle is put through a battery of rigorous crash and safety tests.

The Mazda CX-5 met all of the IIHS’ Top Safety Plus criteria, earning “Good” scores in all 5 crashworthiness tests the institute uses in its testing. The CX-5 joins our other vehicles which have also received a Top Safety Pick designation, namely, the Mazda 3, 6, CX-3 and CX-9. With this Mazda entire lineup, in the US, has received top safety honors from the IIHS (the Mazda 5 is no longer sold is in the US).

In summary, the redesigned 2017 Mazda CX-5 might look very different from its predecessor but it is still one of the safest SUVs you will find on the road.

Below is a summary of the results from the tests.
