Mazda has been named as the only automaker to receive an IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) Top Safety Pick with all 2017 vehicles tested (Mazda 3, Mazda 6, CX-3, CX-5 and CX-9) receiving the designation.

No other automaker in both luxury and non-luxury segments could achieve this.

The IIHS is a non-profit scientific and educational organization that focuses on providing insurance companies and the public with non-biased vehicle safety information. Testing covers all bases, from on collision testing, to collision avoidance technology and even headlight testing. When it comes to excelling in all areas, Mazda is one of very few companies to achieve a Top Safety Pick for all vehicles tested in 2017. To receive a Top Safety Pick , a vehicle must receive a “good” rating in the small overlap test, moderate overlap test, side crash test, roof strength test and head restraint/ seat test. It also must receive an “advanced” or “superior” rating in the crash avoidance and mitigation battery of tests. This section focuses on safety features such as auto braking and auto high beam systems.

Mazda’s accomplishment is due to the use of high- tensile steel to reduce cabin intrusion in the event of a collision. Mazda’s array of available i-ACTIVSENSE technologies help reduce accidents from occurring. The availability of LED headlights with High Beam Control Systems and available Active Front Lighting ensure clear visibility.

This achievement is testament to the passion that Mazda has for making cars. Cars that are not only the most enjoyable to drive, but are also the safest, regardless of what segment one is considering.
